It started with a speech by Doctor Sophia Mancau about this year's global handwashing day celebration at Mabolo Elementary School, Mabolo, Cebu City. In the middle of her speech, she asked the pupils a question, "What are we celebrating today?" then the pupils screamed in chorus, "SAFEGUARD!" How cute are the kids lively answering the question, I chuckled.
the pupils of Mabolo Elemntary School, from grades 1 to 4 joined the 8th Global handwashing day that simultaneously celebrated in Manila and Davao to promote and raise more awareness on the importance of hand washing on October 15, 2015. Around 150 pupils of Mabolo Elemntary School along with some parents and teachers attended the informative and fun-filled event with its local theme: "Linis Lusog sa Global Handwashing".
Along with Procter and Gamble Philippnes, makers of Safeguard prepared an interesting activity to educate both pupils and parents how one can gather germs, how it can be passed from one person to another, and how to get rid of them- basically, taught how diseases-causing germs can be prevented through proper hygiene and frequent handwashing.
After the high-spirited activity, the kids then proceeded to the washing area prepared by P&G and were taught on how to wash hands properly and explained why it is important. Beforehand, the kids were shown how germs were gathered on their hands from the activity they had through an A UV light.
This advocacy for health is not made possible through the collaboration with P&G that continues to work closely with UNICEF, the Department of Education, and the Department of Health to promote health and hygiene in communities.
