Do you need some me-time this Valentine’s day? Or, do you want to be alone, because you have no choice- you are literally alone this Valentine’s day (Aw, harsh, peace ✌🏻). Or, do you want to be your date this Valentine as romantic as the ones we see in romantic movies? Cheesy! Now, I believe, this post is for you and is very timely and as relevant as fck.
While thousands of people flock to the newest attraction in town, 10,000 Roses Cafe in Day-as, Cordova, Cebu and prolly damage again the fancy led lighted-roses by irresponsible local visitors- I HOPE NOT, did you know that in one corner of BTC, there is this very cozy French Pastry Shop that brings a lot of goodness to the table- a class we can, anytime, afford- which is so good good for the soul (as I would like to personally feel it that way).
Owned by a French Executive Chef of more than 26 years to fancy hotels and resorts around the world, and now devoting himself to pastry making in Cebu, where else could you find a more authentic French pastry in the metro? BOCAS (a Spanish word meaning, mouth) Modern Patisserie is a must-visit this Valentine season, and one fabulous reason you should consider aside from their really good pastries is the ROMANTIC place itself- just enough space to cater a few where you can have a privacy with your beloved (inside the mall)- it’s just irresistible. And another thing you should never miss is that, Chef Jean Louis Leon is so hands-on, creating his master pieces for you to indulge.
During the bloggers visit to BOCAS, I had the chance of an exquisite sweet-treat experience at the Patisserie. With Chef Jean personally preparing pastries, I devoured along with other Cebu-based bloggers and Social Media influencers, I saw how he passionately make his obra. I also learned some few things on that day and tasted something my tongue has never tasted before- yes, for a change. I also love how Chef Jean pay attention to details to every pastry he creates- from the littlest design he put on the plate down to the biggest were just wonderful and of course, edible. Not to mention, they got great customer service, too- not just to me because they know I’m a blogger, but to everyone who comes in to the shop to inquire or dine.
On that day, we had:
– Javanais Orange (jaconde biscuit, orange marmalade, butter cream, cointreau syrup)
– Triple AAA (almond biscuit, apricot mousse, amaretto cream, chocolate gllaze)
– Strawberry Eclair with strawberry filling inside
– Assorted Cookies/ Lemon Biscotti/ Almond Sable/ Madeliene/ Fruit Jellies (grapes, coconut, pineapple)
– Freshly-baked caramel macarons
And, while we enjoy the munch of the pastries I mentioned above, Chef Jean served last the:
-Strawberry Ivory Genoise Cake
Of course, I paired everything with Prosecco wine which I already had an idea at the back of my head that the wine would be a good pair for all the stuff prepared for us to eat- I entrust everything to the French Guy, as a first timer on that fab pastry shop.
